The Morton Ferry House is built on two tracts of land totaling six acres. The main
house on Tract I is almost one acre. It includes three full lots as well as some land
from an abandoned city street. Lot sales are selling for over $10,000 apiece on
developed land in this section of Richmond.
The second Tract includes the cabin and is over five acres. Most of this land is in
the Brazos river floodplain and is undeveloped, but is very useable for its beauty.
Many trees as well as fenced pasture land makes it ideal for horses and other
animals. There is also a two horse open stall included on the property. We have
suggested a price of $10,000 per acre on this land.
The value of the house and cabin is set at $165,000 and $20,000 respectively.
Values therefore are as follows:
Tract I $40,000
Tract II $50,000
Cabin $20,000
House $ 165,000
Total $275,000
Other interesting features include a spiral staircase that leads to an upstairs
bedroom and loft with a full bathroom.
An old concrete piling from an old floating bridge that collapsed in the '20's
remains on the back land
Two cisterns, one capped are still on the property.
